Jeepin in Georgia.Avery, don\'t eat that!Baylee w/ a friend.Guess who lost her first tooth?Do you notice something different?Fam at Aquarium, just saw the Whale Sharks, awesome!

I just wanted to let you all know what is going on with us.  As you can see we have been keeping the kids busy.  If you ever get up here you will definitely have to take cover if they get the jeep out!  I have to say that Baylee is definitley a better driver than Avery.  That’s because Avery gets a kick running into everything he can!

We’ve also been working on our aversion to insects.  As you see we are doing pretty well with it but Heather still won’t have anything to do with them.

Did you notice anything different with Baylee’s smile?  That’s right, she lost her first tooth this week.   She was all pumped!  She thinks this means she is ready for highschool now.  Sadly she does not know that she is not leaving home until she is ready for dentures. :)

You also see that we went to see the world’s largest aquarium.  If you ever get up here you definitley need to take the time to visit.  The trip is worth it to see the whale sharks!  The 4d movie is pretty cool as well.  Just make sure you get good directions for when you have to drive through downtown Atlanta.

Alright tune in next time when we will have more to share, especially when it comes to what God has beeen working out up here.

Bless you all!

The Warrior

The other day I discovered that the original samurais dedicated there life to discipline.  Everything they did all day long they did it striving for excellence.  To know that whatever you do is worth doing right.  That’s how they lived every moment of their life.

The picture above is from the LC series ‘Warrior’.  Christ being the ultimate warrior was the most disciplined individual ever to live.  He learned the whole Torah, recruited followers, raised money, began a religion, prayed and meditated for days on end, and in the end was disciplined enough to undergo torture and death for us.  His discipline defeated the enemy and he has left a challenge to follow in his footsteps.

Discipline is the thing that seperated us from animals.  It is the thing that instead of sinning it is the strength to make the better choice.  It is the ability to make a choice that hurts sometimes knowing though it will make you stronger.

If it wasn’t for enduring athletics as a kid I don’t know if I would have been prepared to be a devoted follower of Christ.  I remember coming home from football practice when I was 9 and telling my mom I was quitting.  Knowing that I was a mommy’s boy I had know doubt that she would see it my way as well.  Well, guess what, she made me go back.  For the next two years I got beat up by boys who were older and bigger than me.  It wasn’t until I played sports later on in life that this payed off.  I became the person that never gave up no matter what.  It was my mother’s take on DIscipline that got me through it.

It’s what gets me through it now.

It seems some days it’s tougher to get going but it is the discipline that takes over.  When I feel like taking a nap and escaping for a while there is something inside that says no, go spend time with the kids.  I refuse to give in and one of the cool things about getting older is that you get more stubborn!  As a mature Chist follower we should be in the constant process of developing our discipline.  Making sure that we are’nt just staggering through this life but that we are making significant headway.  What is it that has made you tough or what is the process by which you get stronger?

As for me, thanks mom, I miss you much.

sin always catches up!

Posted by Jody | Posted in Uncategorized | Posted on 15-04-2008

WARNING, this is not for the faint of heart!

It’s ugly isn’t it?  It’s like a giant red crater sitting on my back.  And it hurts.  It has become a reminder that I have made some stupid choices in my life.

It seems like only yesterday I was growing up in South Fl.   We never wore sunscreen when we went outside.  I can’t tell you how many times I got burnt and now…I’m paying the price for it.  I had another skin cancer removed off my body this past month, this makes my third but at least it wasn’t on my nose again.  WHEW!  The doctor said that 75% of the damage done to your skin that causes cancer happens by the time your 18.  Then he said, “Look on the bright side, you are now in control of the other 25%, wear sunscreen.”  Yeah, thanks doc.

Here’s how it reminds me of other screw ups in my life.  Cancer is a lot like sin.  I know you’re like ‘heard that before’ but let me take it a step further.

Yes, God totally forgives us when we sin even sin that is deep, dark, and ugly.  Things that we would rather forget from our past.  But in our early development years a lot of damage can be done that won’t show up until later.  Yes we are forgiven but the consequences are coming.

For me it reminded me that I have done many wrong things.  These things tell me ‘I am no good and I am ‘unlovable’.  This stuff started surfacing in my early adulthood and started festering and growing.  Pretty soon I  thought that I could never be used by God.  It wasn’t until the cancer was removed, I healed and had a bright pink scar could I believe I was something different.  Don’t believe me?  Please click here and check out Ephesian 1.

Then look on the bright side.  God and you are in the driver’s seat for the rest of your life, you can control the choices now with Him.  Just remember to wear sonscreen (excuse the play on words).

the air is clear

looking for a sweater

OK, as we are coming up for air now it has been a long two weeks. It’s not that it’s been all bad it’s just that I have discovered that Murphy’s law goes into overtime when you move.

I am starting to think that companies created customer service departments just to make money and give jobs to employees. It’s as though that when someone like a cable, phone, tv, etc., guy makes a call to install something they will most assuredly have to come back out because they get something wrong. Honestly, the only thing that went right was when they turned on the power because all they had to do was switch the name. Do you all know what I am talking about?

The pictures above are of the kids behind the house, the view from our front drive (you should see the sunsets, WOW!), we had to lite a fire this morning it was 38 outside (aren’t we half way through April?) and Heather looking for a sweater in our box Maelstrom in the basement.

We have been having a great time here all in all. It has been nice hanging out with the kids and being together as a family. We miss everyone very much!

Oh yeah, I almost forgot. Thanks for your prayers because I wanted to let you all know that I think I found a job. The haze is starting to clear now and we are beginning to see the big picture. But your going to have to wait a little bit and I will fill you in on the details later. :)

Let’s just say, “God is Good all the Time!”
