Shelly Carver serves on the host team here at Oak Leaf and is doing a fantastic job of coordinating this summer’s semester of Oak Leaf University.  She’ll be contributing to this blog on a regular basis, and today, here are some of her thoughts on what happens “between Sundays.”

A simple two-word phrase, Between Sundays, could mean many things to many people.

If you are an avid sports fan, as I am, it’s the frame of time that you celebrate or mourn based upon your team’s performance. Growing up in Southern California, I turned into a Raiders fan when they moved to Los Angeles in the early 80s. I have done more mourning than celebrating over the years, but I always keep an eye on their season.

In many athletic events, the winner is decided on a Sunday: Golf, NASCAR, Tennis, etc. But I also feel that if you are a Christian, you can be a winner on Sundays as well.

Between Sundays, athletes train, practice, and improve their skills for that Sunday. Do Christians do the same? Do we pray, read our bibles, improve our knowledge of God so that we can actually be a winner on Sundays, as well as Monday through Saturday?

I know that with God in my heart, and the training that I put in Between Sundays, I’ve won His prize: salvation.

Are you training Between Sundays to win His prize?

Here’s to being on God’s Team,
