Friday Morning Ponderings
Filed in Current Culture, Family on Mar.13, 2010
Ok so I was like enjoying my sabbath instead of writing yesterday so here is what I would have written down.
- I find that often times what you are studying in the scriptures is something that your are dealing with at the same time in you life. Is it coincidence? Check out the post from earlier this week and you will see what I mean.
- If you take the time to reach out to others, especially those that need your help, you will find that you want to do this more and more. Jesus taught us to love God with everything we got and then love others as ourselves. That requires effort upfront but in the long run it gets easier and it betters your life because you are completing one or the purposes that God created you for.
- I wonder how often in our everyday lives we actually stop and tell people, like our coworkers, how good they are doing. We can all find things that people do well. Again when you begin to love others you will find doors opening up to you that you never thought would be there. Looking for a way to invite people to church? Build up a relationship where they actually like being around you.
- My State Farm agent Michael Horne is awesome. It is great to have someone that wants to sit down and meet with you and see what your needs are. He listens first, then explains the differences in non-confusing insurance terms, to see what you want to do. He also deals in Mutual Funds so I am about to let him do more for me. Why? It is hard to find people like this you can trust. AND, I think I can get him to Oak Leaf he seemed pretty interested
. - My daughter is growing up way too fast. Every time I look at her she amazes me. She is so far ahead of me at that age when I was growing up. That’s why my wife and I are being deliberate and doing two things this summer; we are getting rid of the tv for more interaction time and we are having the big ‘talk’ (birds and bee stuff guys) this summer. I will write more later on both of these topics.
Hope you find rest this weekend to. By the way a sabbath does not have to go from sun up to sun down. It can happen from noon to noon. Just pick a 24 hour period where you focus on family and God and let the work go. Go ahead and see what it does for your soul.
