Pick up your Cross
As a father one of the things that I dread the most is the fact that I might not always be here for my family. It is a scary thing.
I have lost my dad but thankfully it was not that long a go. That meant for him that I was already established in my life. But in saying that before he died I still could see the worry in his eyes for me and hear the concern in his voice. We are dads. We are suppose to worry right?
Earlier this year I learned about Matt Chandler’s story which really struck home for me. That’s because we are close in the same stage of life and his kids are exactly the same age as mine. Eye opener.
Then I read this story about Zac Smith who at 32 left three kids and a wife behind. Suffering from abdominal cancer for 2 months before he died he had to bear his cross. DADS please watch the video and read from his blog some and get how even in his suffering he accomplished what God called Him to do.

If you are a father and are not living this life all for God and for those He has called you to live sacrificially for, your family, please wake up. Realize how short time is and make your mark on this world. That is one of being a Godly father and leader for your family. They need you…

Earlier today I watched the video and read a couple of Zac’s blogs.Tonight I read every one from the time he found out he had cancer.I have never known a family that was as strong as this family. It was amazing how they handled all the pain.It seemed there love for God got stronger when things was getting worse.Alot of people would be blaming God for all of this but at times he was thanking God.It made him a better person and he knew God never promised tomorrow but he did promise eternity. While I was on the blogs his wife blogged to thank everyone for the prayers and asked to continue praying for the family. If you have not read these blogs please do,you will be touched.Jody thank you for letting us know about this man and his journey.

I reposted that vid on twitter as well. Very powerful. On a much more shallow front, love the new look on the blog.

It is wonderful how something tramatic can become amazing in someone’s life. God works wonders if we let him, we just have to be open to finding the good and not blaming God for the bad. People like Zac and Matt shows us that through God’s grace and glory we can overcome those times and truimph giving God glory.
Thanks for sharing.
