What is it to be American?

After getting the chance the other day to talk about Honor Country, during our Old Time religion series, a friend of mine sent me a recent video of Dennis Prager. I am not stating that I am a fan of his because I really don’t know a lot about him. He has a conservative talk show and is a commentator but he is a pretty smart guy when it comes to political stances.
In this short video he talks about the issue of pride lacking in America. Something that I hit on the sermon a couple of weeks a go. Have a listen and see what it says to you.
Then ask yourself the question. “What is it to be American?”

When I was a teen, I didn’t give much thought as to what was going on in the world around me, I was pretty self absorbed. As I have gotten older and I watch the America I knew pass away, I’ve become a lot more aware. I hope more Americans will become aware and listen to what this guy has to say because it’s true. Most people have forgotten, but then again, so many people are not even from here. By no means is America perfect, but the reasons people flocked to America in the first place are quickly disappearing.

Wow! That was inspiring. I’m a conservative American and I do lean toward the right on political issues. This is so difficult because left and right have never been further apart in this country. It’s a little scary because things are going to be unbelievably tense leading up to November. Guess we need to be praying a lot. I’ll be praying that we come to know God’s values for humanity. When we know those and live by them, people’s lives will ultimately improve.
